Our Former President-A.P.J Abdul Kalam
India is a republic country. As per rules and powers laid down in our constitution, the rank of the president is topmost. The great personage Dr. A.P.J Abdul Kalam is one such scholar and a famous scientist who has got his name added in this list. Dr. A.P.J Abdul Kalam is the eleventh President of our country.
Born on 15th October, 1931 at a holy place Rameshvaram in Tamil Nadu, Dr. Avul Pakir Jinulabdeen Abdul Kalam is from a middle class family. Since childhood, he was self-dependent by nature. While the children of his age group were busy in playing different kinds of games. This man was selling newspapers. He did all this to support his family financially.
Dr. Kalam started his studies in Ramnath Puram. After that, he completed his graduation from Joseph College in Tiruchirapalli. In 1958, Dr. Abdul Kalam started his professional career in Defence Research and Development Organization (DRDO). Later on in 1963 he joined Indian Space Research Organization (SRO) and became the chief instructor of SLV-3 project. The experiment on various missiles Agni, Akash, Prithvi, Naag, Trishul, etc. was done in supervision of Dr. Kalam in 1997 and he was awarded Bharat Ratna.
Immediately after taking oath of office as President, he addressed the nation the theme of making India a developed country. Kalam emphasized the national security was ‘a national priority’.
Dr. Kalam who is a secularist is still now popular among members of all communities. He is a very simple man by nature. He has a great interest in Indian classical music. Dr. Kalam has written two books named “India-2020” and “Wings of Fire”. About this great man, we can only say that he is a person who reads the Gita and Qurans; he will be able to greet everyone with “Ram, Ram” and “Salaam”.
Though he is the former President, we still hope that he will lead the forces of secularism against the communal rabble to a deceive victory.
