We all know what war is but does anyone truly understand the concept of peace? Does it exist? All i ever seem to hear about is war, war, war.

A scientist who once tried to introduce emotion in robots had the following idea:

To make a robot feel happy, one would have to keep him in perpetual sadness. Then, when a pleasant incident would happen, this state of sadness would b diminished accordingly. May be, in that way, peace can be defined as the absence of war.

Well this has been a common practice for people to define a thing by negating it with the other which can be a very good and reliable source however it helps us in categorizing stuff as you may call it. do have something called a peace. Whether be it a peace of mind or of words. How did the word a eutopian society coin out from where this is peace and tranquility and un utter chaotic form of it would be war. War itself is not properly definable. We do have a war of words. Doesn’t necessarily mean it has to be something physical but is to fight against the odds. There is a potential problem with this scenario is that who defines the odds.

When just one mind can be full of conflicts, we do expect conflicts in the coming together of two minds. So where there are humans, there is bound to be conflict, competition, war and strife. S

Isn't peace something like the absence of war? Like silence and noise. Sounds are everywhere but silence does exist, not only in theory. Silence is the absence of sound and if there's a little bit of sound, you could say that there is also some silence at the same time (when there was a noise at first and then it stopped). The moments when people don't fight / quarrel, there is peace.

War could also be a memory - a moment - but then the mind has a tendency to cling to the bad and negative things for a longer time.

So it becomes a nagging memory. Any bit of peace or goodness is taken for granted.

Not only absence of war, peace is also absence of bad feelings in one self’s mind.

Is it possible to feel absence of bad feelings these days? How would we know what peace is if there wasn't any war?

Peace is not an absence of war - on the one hand what about terrorism or extortion or violent crime? As long as these exist, is there then peace, if there is no war?

On the other hand, peace is not only about violence. There are things such as peace of mind, peaceful souls.

Last night I was on the beach, watching the sun set. I was at peace with the world, at peace with myself.

They are not diametrically opposed, they are separate concepts.

If you want a world with no violence in it whatsoever, you are violently repressing a whole class of people who enjoy violence. This is aggression!

If you can sit in the battlefield - and still not bother about the booming guns and dying people. just sit and witness what is happening. You are enjoying peace! It is all in the mind.

The very fact that we are searching for peace (through this string of messages) shows that we have a tendency to be unhappy, and get our minds disturbed. If we meditate easy enough we get peace.
