Time is Money
It’s undoubtedly the time of money. In the past when the needs of people were limited, barter system was in practice. People used to give what they had and they took from others what they needed. There was no money system or currency. They just had exchange of goods. As their needs increased and civilization advanced, barter system could not serve the purpose. Then came money system. The basic purpose and use of money was to buy and sell goods.
Money ! more money ! and more money ! In present time it would not be exaggeration to say that there is nothing without money. Money is the most useful thing for men today. Our needs are limitless. The things we need in our day to day life are procured from different places. To buy not only goods but also services of many people i.e. doctors, teachers, engineers, electricians, barbers, tailors, bus, train etc. we need money.
Since nations are advancing, we require goods and services not only from local people but also from other countries. We trade on national and international level for which we need money. Now barter system is not possible. Without money we cannot move a step. Money buys us the necessities of life, education, technology, things of luxury and comfort. For anything money is needed.
Uses or misuses of anything go together. Uses or misuses of anything depend on us. We do not always look for the positive side of the thing. Man has evil mind too. The bad man put money to many evil purposes. It would not be wrong to say that today money is at the root of all sins. Man can do any sin for money. For some, money is above all. A brother can kill his own brother for the sake of money. A traitor can sell the secrets of national security to the enemy country. A player can intentionally loose matches for money. Lawyers and judges can do any injustice for money. People can leak out question papers of competitive exams for money. Undeserving candidates are selected for the post they do not deserve. Criminals are made to contest elections. Politicians are making, starting scams everyday. Why all this fuss? Just for the sake of money. Money is the root cause of all the corruption in every society.
Every misuse of money is not sinful or criminal. It is misused in many ways for which one cannot be punished. Vanity is such a misuse of money. The use of money for the luxury of some, while many are starving is the worst misuse. Many people feel that money is their power or strength. They can buy some persons to do wrong with others. Many rich people exploit the poor. Wasting money is considered prestige symbol today. It is also rightly said that a hungry person can commit any crime. Hence in both the cases money makes a person to do any wrong.
Today there is big competition of making pomp and show in functions. To be ahead in the race some people try to earn more and more money by fair or foul means. People should use money for the right purposes and earn it only by fair means.
