Swami Vevekananda was a great Indian philosopher. He was famous for his philosophy and sanatan dharma prachar all over the world. I do pay homage tohim on his 150th Birthday.

He was of course a Great and Brilliant person in every way....But sadly enough while most people would remember the birthdays of filmstars, such people are easily forgotten by the masses and it is an irony of life that Swami Vivekananda was extremely concerned about the common man and his every day problems and tried to enlighten them with his own knowledge and perception.
I pay my humble respects to this Great man !

Pay no mind to those who talk behind your back, it simply means that you are two steps ahead !!!

Swami Vivekandana is one of the eminent leaders our country India have ever seen its prestigious history. "Arise, Awake" - inspiring quote.

Born to express, not to impress.

True Usha! That is indeed the irony! He especially was more concerned about the youth who have much more energy, zeal and enthusiasm towards achieving better things in life and that if this energy was diverted towards nation building, we would become a superpower in no time at all. But sadly, it is all lost upon the youth who are more busy keeping themselves spruced up and dancing to the tunes of lewd, raunchy songs with drinks in hand!!

A man of great wisdom and purity that shines through his words even today. "Freedom of the mind is the real freedom that one should attain".

Nicely drawn Rambabu!

Live in the present :)

Bang on! Even presidents and prime ministers take his name and ask others to follow him but do they conscientiously do so? In his brief stay in this planet, he strove hard to direct our attention to the most positive aspects in our life. Religion to him rested on actions. Indeed, a revolutionary concept to link it to our existential problems not a form of escapism. He displayed brilliant insight into analyzing and diagnosing India' problems which still hold valid and true. According to him, India's problem mainly centred around the horrific conditions of women and people belonging to lower castes. He was relentless in his crusade against both. That condemning a vast populace to such ignominious and inhuman existence would spell doom for a nation was crystal clear to him. He combined both our spiritual heritage and scientific temper. When he met Jamshetji Tata on board the ship which was taking him to Chicago, he came to know from him the purpose of his visit was to set up a match-box factory and he advised him to seriously think of setting up a steel factory! He was so impressed with the use of electricity in America that he asked his brother not to pursue law but study electrical engineering. Such was his level of pragmatism. He famously once said that men make money but money doesn't make men ( here the use 'men' meant both men and women). Sadly have we put him on such a high pedestal that he is beyond our reach in our day to day life!! His bold ideas on socialism were shaped when even 'marxism' was in its infancy!!!

He is my idol and I feel teachings are well suited for youth. The development of any country is dependent on youth. I pay my tribute to this great philosopher
