Stolen goods always bring bad luck to the stealer. Some care and some ignore. But ultimately the person who steals has to pay a price for his immoral deed sooner or later.

Here the thief does not repent nor he is going to give up theft. Simply trhe article stolen is inauspicious and brings bad luck. This is just like Kohinoor diamond that is said to cause bad luck to the crown containing that diamond.

When a thief returns the stolen goods, it must be understood that he has been affected by some way or other.
