Even if you are not a tax payer in the sense that you have no PANCARD and pay no income tax, you still contribute a lot to government revenue by way of tax on commodities- customs, central excise, VAT, service tax.

This is really a good news for people who think they are not able to contribute anything for government revenue.
Every thing is taxed on source therefore every one including beggars are tax payers in one way or other. Whoever purchase, use a facility pays indirectly or directly. He is not paying income tax because he does not fall in that category but if you calculate other taxes more than half of what he spends go to exchequer indirectly by way of various taxes.

Those who have no such document they also pay tax.when they purchase any commodities from the market they pay small amount of tax for that commodity which helps the government in many ways.

Small amount? You'll be surprised to note the amount if you knew the exact amount. It costs you more than half by way of excise, trade tax, surcharges, custom duties and so many other taxes/revenue depending on different items.

I may not be paying tax on my INCOME. But there are many activities from dawn to dusk for which, I'm paying taxes.I think indirect taxes are generating more revenue than the direct taxes. Anyhow I;m not sure.

Be sure. Bulk of the government revenue is from Central Excise duty and corporate tax. Individual income tax gives very small revenue. I feel that individuals should be completed exempted from income tax. Only corporate and business houses should be taxed. Indirectly, we all contribute to the business and corporate and tax on them is virtually tax on all of us.

I subscribe to your view that individuals should be completely exempted from income tax.
