Sushruta, one of the earliest surgeons of the recorded history (600 B.C.) is believed to be the first individual to describe plastic surgery. Sushruta who lived nearly 150 years before Hippocrates vividly described the basic principles of plastic surgery in his famous ancient treatise 'Sushruta Samhita' 1,2 in 600 B.C. 'Sushruta Samhita'(Sushruta's compendium) which is one of the oldest treatise dealing with surgery in the world indicates that he was probably the first surgeon to perform plastic surgical operations. http://connection.ebscohost.com/c/articles/52382637/sushruta-first-plastic-surgeon-600-b-c

This information is also part of Medical studies ...so Indians have been foremost in this field and others perfected it over the years !

Pay no mind to those who talk behind your back, it simply means that you are two steps ahead !!!

Rhinoplasty AKA as nose job in the plastic surgery parlances today, was performed successfully centuries ago by Susruta in Varanasi in his Ashram. The tools used by him are no different than the tools used today by the Plastic Surgeons.
The difference is, Susruta used stone and wood for his tools. And today, different metals are used.
Indians were well ahead in almost all fields, but they were not given proper recognition. Charak was recognized as the Father of Medcine and Sushruta as the Surgeon is already a known fact. But only now they are given proper credit for their contribution to medical science.

People's mindset started changing of late. We started realizing the greatness of Indian quintessence gradually. But a lot has to be done not only realizing, but also for patronizing in a big way.
Undoubtedly, India is a pioner i many fields of knowledge- medicine being one of these. Ayurveda is well known medicine system. Butwe may only feel pride in our ancient knowledge. However fact remains that the world today has much more knowledge in every field than what we had in the past. World has progressed a lot in medicine, surgery, astronomy and every other field. We must progress ahead and not mrely feel pround of our ancient heritage.

I agree sir. Basking in the great past is not enough. We should take our ancient heritage to newer heights.
