Ratan Tata is superb and unparalleled. This is substantiated by the fact that no replacement could be found for him. He is to retire soon. He already stated that he would not like to leave his job in a wheel chair.

It is very difficult to find a replacement for him... He is a born leader...
For other companies in private sector, replacement of CEO is no problem. Unlike others TAT is not a family group. This is professional.
Incidentally, even most of political parties are run as family concerns. The politicians and bureaucrats also bring 'family' and dynastic element in their working.

Tata Group and Ratan Tata are exception. It is hoped that Tata Group will find a very eminent person to replace Ratan Tata. Let Ratan Tata enjoy a very happy and peaceful retirement.

although, a successor to Ratan Tata is not yet decided, it is revealed that the successor should be young enough to be at helm of affairs for the next 30 to 40 years. assuming that the successor will retire at seventy five years, he should now be thirty to thirty five years old. This appears an unreasonable criteria. A suitable successor would be now 40 to fifty years old and could work for next twenty to thirty years.

The report is that they want the person appointed to work for next forty years. This means that after forty years , the person selcted should be seventy years or around. Hence that person yet to be selected should now be less than thirty years. By that criteria, you may get the job.

Yes I agree with most of the members here that its very hard to find a proper replacement for Ratan Tata, and I am sure whoever succeed him will be a person of immense talent and foresight so that he could smoothly carry on the good work of the Ratanji....
